Senior Software Developer

Overview

intY’s award-winning development team is a fast-paced environment using the latest technology to deliver features for CASCADE (intY’s global SaaS integration and management solution) as well as bespoke customer solutions.

This is an office-based software development position working to an agile Scrum methodology. intY are a Microsoft Gold Partner and the majority of software is written in C# and ASP.NET MVC to run in an Azure environment, with the occasional requirement for other technologies to integrate with systems that do not have an API.

Position and Reporting Lines

The post holder will report to the Development Manager and will liaise closely with other engineers within the development department.

The post holder will be a driven, capable, ambitious individual with a high work ethic and strong verbal and written communication skills; delivery focussed with the ability to motivate a team of highly skilled engineers.

Main Elements of the Role

Responsibilities include:

  • Gathering/analyzing business requirements
  • Prototyping, designing, developing & testing new software programs
  • Integrating existing software products and getting incompatible platforms to work together
  • Mentoring junior software developers
  • Working closely with other staff such as project managers, testers, and support engineers
  • Proactively improving quality and productivity in the team
  • Introducing appropriate new technology to the team

Essential
Skills

The post holder must have the following skills:-

  • educated to degree level or equivalent
  • extensive commercial experience of C# in OO n-tier systems with SQL Server/T-SQL
  • commercial experience of as many as possible of the following: ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, design patterns, Enterprise Library, DI containers, TDD, DDD
  • commercial experience of Entity Framework and MVC
  • proficient in Web Services / SOA, preferably having experience of using WCF, and be comfortable working with 3rd-party APIs.
  • exposure to agile development methodologies such as Scrum
